Ingestion Pipelines

Breaking change: Version 2.1 rejects ingestion pipeline writes whose sourceConfig.config.type is missing. Clients that omitted the type discriminator, usually because a generated model defaulted it, must now send it.

Validation Rules

A write to /v1/services/ingestionPipelines returns 400 when:
  • sourceConfig.config is missing or null: The error is sourceConfig.config.type is required.
  • sourceConfig.config.type is missing, null, blank, or not a string: The error is sourceConfig.config.type is required.
  • sourceConfig.config isn’t an object: The error is sourceConfig.config must be an object with type.
A non-blank string type is accepted unchanged. Set it to the source config type that matches the pipeline, for example DatabaseMetadata:

Upgrade Behavior

  • Existing pipelines: The 2.1 migration scans active, non-deleted pipelines. It writes a missing type only when the pipeline type and a single parent service relationship identify one known source config.
  • Unidentifiable pipelines: Orphaned, ambiguous, or malformed pipelines are logged and left unchanged. Update them with an explicit type.
  • Python workflows: Python workflows now fill in defaulted sourceConfig discriminators when they register a pipeline, so workflows that run from the SDK need no change.
