Troubleshooting
Workflow Deployment Error
If there were any errors during the workflow deployment process, the Ingestion Pipeline Entity will still be created, but no workflow will be present in the Ingestion container.- You can then Edit the Ingestion Pipeline and Deploy it again.
- From the Connection tab, you can also Edit the Service if needed.
Connector Debug Troubleshooting
This section provides instructions to help resolve common issues encountered during connector setup and metadata ingestion in OpenMetadata. Below are some of the most frequently observed troubleshooting scenarios. How to Enable Debug Logging for Any Ingestion
To enable debug logging for any ingestion workflow in OpenMetadata:- Navigate to Services Go to Settings > Services > Service Type (e.g., Database) in the OpenMetadata UI.
- Select a Service Choose the specific service for which you want to enable debug logging.
- Access Agents Tab Go to the Agents tab and click the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of the ingestion type, and select Edit.
- Enable Debug Logging In the configuration dialog, enable the Debug Log option and click Next.
- Schedule and Submit Configure the schedule if needed and click Submit to apply the changes.
Permission Issues
If you encounter permission-related errors during connector setup or metadata ingestion, ensure that all the prerequisites and access configurations specified for each connector are properly implemented. Refer to the connector-specific documentation to verify the required permissions.Salesforce Data 360-Specific Issues
The following issues are specific to the Salesforce Data 360 pipeline connector.Connection Test Fails on “CheckAccess” or Authentication
OpenMetadata authenticates with the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret from your Salesforce connected app using the OAuth 2.0 client credentials flow. If the connection test fails before listing any data:- Confirm you copied the Consumer Key and Consumer Secret correctly and haven’t rotated them in Salesforce.
- Confirm the connected app has the client credentials flow and the Manage Data Cloud and Access Data Cloud APIs scopes enabled.
- Check the Salesforce Domain value. Use
loginfor production, testfor a sandbox, or your My Domain subdomain for a custom domain.
Pipelines Are Ingested but No Lineage Appears
Lineage links each pipeline to the tables it reads from and writes to, which requires the Data 360 tables to already exist in OpenMetadata.- Confirm that you created and deployed a separate Lineage Agent. The Metadata agent doesn’t ingest lineage.
- Ingest metadata from Salesforce Data 360 with the database connector first, then set Data 360 Database Service Name to that service.
- Add a Service Mapping entry for Data Streams that pull from systems outside Data 360. Map each upstream connector or data source name to the OpenMetadata service that holds it, for example
{"S3_Connector": "my-s3-service"}. - Enable Include Bulk Lineage to ingest Data Lake Object-to-Data Model Object lineage.
A Pipeline Is Missing or Has No Run Status
If a pipeline doesn’t appear in OpenMetadata or shows no run status, check the following:- Confirm that you created and deployed a separate Usage Agent. The Metadata agent doesn’t ingest Pipeline Status.
- Check that the object has an
ACTIVEstatus. OpenMetadata filters out Data Streams, Calculated Insights, and Data Transforms in any other state and reports them in the ingestion logs. - Check that Data 360 returns both a start and end timestamp for the run. OpenMetadata skips runs without a usable time window and logs them as warnings.
- Set Status Lookback Days to include the run. OpenMetadata doesn’t ingest runs outside this window.
